6 Best Pens for Bullet Journaling That Do NOT Bleed!

This post is giving you the BEST Pens for Bullet Journaling That Do NOT Bleed through your journal pages.

As a bullet journal enthusiast, there is nothing more annoying than creating a beautiful bullet journal spread only to find that it has bled through to the equally pretty spread before it, and after it. High quality, non-bleed through pens can be quite hard to come by, especially if you are on a budget. However, I have been journaling for years now and have found some of the best pens for bullet journaling that do not bleed and are within your budget!

This post is all about the best pens for bullet journaling

What are the best pens for bullet journaling?

I have tried and tested hundreds of pens over the years and have found that these pens are the absolute tip-top for bullet journaling! These pens range from markers to fineliners, so whatever you are in the market for, we have got you covered. We also cover a range of price ranges, too!

    Best Pens for Bullet Journaling

    1. Sakura Pigma Microns

    best bullet journaling pens

If you have been keeping up with my bullet journal, you will know how much I have been loving these pens from Sakura! I use them every single day both in and out of my bullet journal. They glide onto the paper amazingly well and there’s no bleed through- even with the brush tip.

Do not be like me and put off purchasing these because they have changed the game for me and I regret not buying them sooner!

    Find Sakura pens here!

    2. Best Pens for Bullet Journaling: Zebra Mildliners

best pens for bullet journaling planner ideas

Zebra Mildliners are everything I wanted in a highlighter growing up and more. Forgot those ugly, neon colours and think of the rainbow because that is the range of colours the Mildliners come in. Not only this but they are also DUAL TIP; where one side is a marker and the other is a highlighter. These do NOT bleed through and the colour pigmentation is frikin amazing.

I created my August 2020 bullet journal cover page; which is my most favourite cover page I have ever done with mildliners. It came out super amazing and pigmented. I just absolutely love these pens and recommend them to everyone!

    3. Papermate Ink Joy Gels

best pens for bullet journaling that dont bleed

These pens are fairly new to me but they have fast become one of the best pens for bullet journaling. Why? They are CHEAP and SO GOOD! The ink from these pens flow so seamlessly across the page and the pigmentation is *chefs kiss.* I think out of all of the ink based/ biro pens these are a but more expensive but are totally worth it.

    4. Tombow Black Dual Brush Pens

best pens for bullet journaling amazon

The only Tombow I own is this black Tombow dual brush pen. I love it! The brush nib is so much stiffer than those from cheaper brands, and the marker side of the pen is much thicker than other ones I have tried.

What I am saying is, the Tombow dual brush pen compares to no other. However, if you want to buy loads of other colours (like I wish I could) it can potentially set you back a bit. However, I am pretty sure it will be 100% worth it becuase these pens are great.

In terms of bleed through I can only talk about the black pen which is the darkest one (duh 😂) and that does not bleed through at all so I assume the others do not bleed through either.

    5. Best Pens for Bullet Journaling: Hethrone Dual Brush Pens

For cheaper brush pens, you NEED to check the Hethrone dual brush pens out! I am in love with these pens. For the price, the quality is great and the colour selection is crazy big. If you are new to brush pens, definitely try these out first, just to practice with, especially for calligraphy. I create most of my spreads with these, with one of the most recent being the March 2021 cover page!

Like most brush pens, they are dual tip. However, unlike the Tombow dual brush pens, the pen tip of this a fineliner. No bleed-through is ever present on either side.

I 100% recommend these to anyone trying out dual brush pens and are looking for something affordable but of great quality!

    6. Staedtler Triplus Fineliners

    best bullet journal pens

I think everyone in the bullet journal community knows about Triplus fineliners and how GOOD these are. If you create a lot of lines, colour code, or just write a lot in your journal- these pens are the best!

They have no bleed through and come in so many colour variations, they are great starter fineliners, which I am still using 5 years into bullet journaling.

That was 6 Best Pens for Bullet Journaling that do not bleed through and are super affordable!

  • How To Be More Productive | 13 Genius Productivity Tips To Get Things Done

How To Be More Productive | 13 Genius Productivity Tips To Get Things Done

This post is all about how to be more productive! We are providing you with some genius productivity tips and tricks to help you get things done!

    how to be more productive

As we start a new year, a new exam season, or a new project we want to be able to get things done in a timely manner and smash our goals. It can be quite difficult to do this. But guess what? It is possible with the productivity tips given in this post.

Whether your goal is weeks away, days away or at the end of the year, whether your task is big or small, implementing these genius productivity tips will help you get there!

Here’s how to be more productive!

    How To Be More Productive

I am just going to put a disclaimer in before we start. You do not need to do every single one of these tips to be productive. Productivity is determined by you. If making your bed is productive for you, that’s great! If going on a run at 7am in the morning and doing all of your chores is productive, that’s also great.

    Set more than one alarm

Start your day right and actually get up when you are supposed to. I set about five alarms in the morning to get myself up on time. This helps you snooze whilst also snoozing less, if that makes sense! I highly recommend doing this if you struggle waking up in the morning

Set out all of the things you will need in the morning the night before

Setting out your clothes, the things you make your breakfast and coffee with, and your makeup up and shower things will help streamline your morning and enable a stress free start to your day.

Make a daily to-do list in the morning

As you sit down with your morning hot drink and breakfast, make a to-do list of thing you need to get done in that day. This could be looking at all of the appointments, meetings, or calls you have and pencilling them in as well as other tasks.

Making a to-do list will allow your productivity to skyrocket as it is a visual tool that will inspire you to get things done!

    Set Small Manageable Goals

Be realistic, do not expect to complete a whole draft of your thesis in one day. Setting yourself small manageable tasks will help you be more productive as you are actually able to complete them!

    Meal Prep!

This is such a massive time-saver. You do not even have to think about what’s for lunch and dinner because you already have it!

I know meal prepping is quite hard but if you go onto Pinterest and type in meal prep ideas, there’s 1000s of posts!

    Clean Up As You Go

Whilst you go about your daily routine make sure to clean up after yourself. You may spend a few minutes doing this but its better spending a few minutes here and there instead of 30 minutes at the end of the day.

Want More Organisation And Productivity Posts? You got it:

    Go over your to-do list

how to be more productive student

Being productive is NOT completing the whole of your to-do list. It is doing what YOU can, that YOU deem as productive.

Going over your to-do list throughout the day will help you understand the pace you work at. This makes it easier to set yourself taks in the future as you will roughly know how long they will take. This is also good as you can amend daily tasks if you know there is no way you are going to get it done.

    Review your goals regularly

Reviewing you goals will help you be more productive because you are mentally reminding yourself of your goals. Subconsciously, you will therefore work harder towards your goals, making you achieve them.

Rank Your Tasks in Order of Importance

Rank the things you need to do in the day in order of importance, and do the most important things first. This will automatically make you feel more productive once the more important task is checked off.

    Complete Small Tasks in Chunks

Set aside about an hour a day to get small tasks done. This could be sending out some emails, folding your laundry, and washing up dishes. All three tasks can be done within the space of an hour. These power hours are amazing to just tick off loads of things that need to be done.

Go For A Walk in the Middle of The Day

Taking breaks is crucial for high productivity! Break up your day and go for a walk during lunch. This will help clear your head and allow your brain to refresh and rejuvinate for the second part of your day.

Clear Your Workspace at the End of the Day

I cannot stress how important this task is. At the end of the day, clear your desk off all thing you used that day such as, coffee mugs, plates, pieces of paper, books etc. as you do not want to carry them over with you to the new day. It is so annoying waking up in the morning and having to clear your desk before you have to work!

    Treat Yo’ Self

That’s right! You have got to give yourself regular breaks when being productive. As said before, being productive is not doing every single thing on your to-do list.

Treat yourself for tasks you complete. For example, once I write this post I am going to have some chocolate. Not only does this motivate you but it actually works to get things done!

That was HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE! If you have any productivity tips, make sure to comment them below!

  • 11 Amazingly Cosy Bedroom Ideas You Will Love

11 Amazingly Cosy Bedroom Ideas You Will Love

These are the 11 hygge inspired amazingly cosy bedroom ideas, that are totally to *sleep* for!

Is there anything more appealing than relaxing in a cosy room? Your room is your place to relax and unwind at the day so making it as cosy as possible is a must. Having shared a small bedroom for the first *twenty-two* years of my life, I am used to making the most out of my space. Therefore, whether you have a small or big bedroom, there are loads of cosy bedroom ideas in here for you.

    Let’s get cosy…

    1 | CANDLES

Now this one is bit obvious, candles are a staple cosy piece. They add warmth and instantly make a room calm and cosy when lit. I love lighting my candles in the evening whilst I finish off some work or just have them on whilst reading… it really creates a nice, cosy mood. Recently, I have taken to having them on whilst working from home and its quite nice.

However, I am quite picky with my candles. I used to buy my candles from all over the place but I absolutely hate it when candles tunnel despite burning for 4hours + (Aldi candles are the worst at this!) I do still buy some from Primark as you can see in the picture because they burn quite quickly and I have them on for a while so no tunnelling occurs. The only candles I know which don’t tunnel are my Yankee Candles and I love them so much. These are the scents that will make your room nice and cosy:

If you would like cheaper scents, definitely check out Dunelm and Primark!

    2 | Wax Melts

These are so gorgeous! If I know I’m not going to be burning my candle for long enough, I use my wax melt. My wax melt burner is from Poundland (definitely check them out if you are in the market for some cheap ones.) I like this burner but I don’t love it as there are way prettier ones elsewhere. The one below is one I am thinking of purchasing this payday as it will throw really pretty light patterns on the wall. These make your room smell lovely INSTANTLY, which is great. They also use tea-lights so I think you could get away with using them in halls or rentals.

    3 | Wall Plug Ins!

If you are not allowed any sort of open flame in your bedrooms or you just do not like candles, definitely think about investing in a wall plug in. They come in so many scents, it’s just about picking the one that’s most appealing and calming to you. This way you are still achieving the cosy vibes.

    4 | Chunky / Fleecey Throws

One way to instantly make your room more cosy is introducing throws and blankets to your bed or on a chair. These throws exude warmth and can be taken with you to the living room or be wrapped around you during your wfh days. I absolutely love wrapping myself up in my throw whilst watching netflix or reading during the middle of the day when it’s not acceptable to get back into bed.

    5 | Pillows

    source: pintsizedbeauty

The phrase I associate with pillows is: the more the merrier. Really, the more pillow you have the more cosy and inviting your room is. Look how amazingly cosy Lily’s bed looks!

I love purchasing my pillows from supermarkets and Primark!

The great thing about the cosy bedroom ideas I have mentioned so far is that the only space they require is on your bed and a little space on your desk/ windowsill.

    6 | Art Prints

Having shared a room for most of my life, I was never able to put anything onto the walls because my sister had to like it, too and we are very different. Therefore, nothing went up on the walls. However, now, I am still stuck in that void where I have nothing on my walls. That is about to change, though. I have so many ideas where I want to put things up in my room and I KNOW it will make my room automatically more cosy.

I’m going to be printing out a bunch of prints from my Etsy shop (LazyPeachDesigns) so definitely check those out if you’re in the market for some prints.

Here are some more posts you may enjoy:

    7 | Warm lights

    source

To add some cosy ambience, stick up some staple warm fairy lights around your space. A perfect solution to not have to put up any prints or photos and cover a blank wall is to get some fairy light wall lights. We had some of these in our university living room and they made everything immensely cosy and nice.

    8 | Books!

I could not write a post about cosiness and miss out on some books. I don’t know what it is about books but they automatically make a space more cosy and personal. Having a book shelf or maybe even a small stack of books, or even one book on your nightstand will automatically make your room more cosy.

9 | Comfy dressing gown/ Robe on the door

I recently bought a ‘over the door hook’ system and I love it! I had one of these in all of my uni bedrooms but I only got one for my own bedroom this year. Hanging up some cosy robes and jumpers will add a personal and cosy feel to your space.

    10| An aesthetic mug/ pot

A lovely mug/ plant pot (with a nice plant) will again add a cosy feel to your room and make it looked lovely a lived in. I love putting some pens/ bookmarks into my plant pots and mugs. You can even put your makeup brushes/ diffuser into it.

    11 | An area rug

If you have wooden flooring, definitely invest in a rug that will make your room nice and cosy.

Be careful with the sizing of your rug; don’t buy too small or too big as it will look really weird.

  • Things To Do This Fall: Indoors, Outdoors and Digital-Free!

Things To Do This Fall: Indoors, Outdoors and Digital-Free!

This post is all about the best things to do this fall! Whether you’re staying in or going out, we have you covered!

As the weather becomes colder and crispier, we find that prolonged outdoor activities just aren’t viable anymore (ain’t nobody going for a beach day in October in the UK.) Therefore, we need some other things do both indoors and outdoors, to keep us occupied. This post is going to consist of fun things you can do both in and out of the house this autumn, whilst also keeping safe by maintaining social distancing.

I have categorised these activities into two categories, so you can click whichever you would like:

    – In the House Things to do this Fall

Out of the House Things to do this Fall

Things to do this Fall: Outdoors

    Take a woodland walk

Have no woods near you? You can drive somewhere near by or even take a walk in your local park and see the beautiful trees and the autumn leaves.

Read a book in your favourite cafe

Nothing screams autumn aesthetic as reading in a cafe does. I love getting a warm drink and sitting down and escaping in a good book for a couple of hours.

    Go book shopping

Again, very on brand for autumn but book shopping whilst it’s gloomy outside doesn’t compare to anything. It’s lovely being surrounded by books and warmth whilst its cold outside.

If you want a few book recommendations, click here.

    Go on a bike ride

On a day where it’s not so rainy, going on a bike ride is perfect and peaceful.

Go and have a Sunday Roast at your local pub

Now, I have never had a pub roast (which my friends’ ridicule me for) but I’ve heard they are spectacular and hearty… just what we need in the autumn.

    Visit some museums!

Visiting museums is such an autumn mood. Go to your local history museum, science museum; they are so cool (and free!)

    Go To a Plant Nursery

Winter plants and shrubs are so underrated. I would highly recommend just going to a garden centre/ plant nursery and just looking at all of the beautiful flowers.

    Search for Acorns and Pinecones

I don’t know if I’m in the complete wrong over here but I don’t think I have ever seen acorns in London but pinecones are abundant in the autumn winter/ time and i know some people love putting them around the house.

Take a Day trip to the Nearest City

We spend our Summers driving to the beach and spend our weekends in Autumn doing the same thing over and over again. Take one day (or two, if you fancy it) and visit a city close to you, one that you have never visited before.

Go and Watch a Movie at Your Local Cinema

The cinema industry has taken such a big hit recently and it would be great to go down to your local cinema and watch a movie!

    Adventure Park, Anyone?

Adventure parks are so much fun, go in the autumn to avoid the big queues and the sweltering heat!

    Try a new Cuisine

Use this fall to branch out with your tastebuds. I recently tried Brazilian food and absolutely loved it!

Things to do this Fall: Indoors

    A puzzle

I did this during lockdown and immensely enjoyed it. It may have been because I was watching money heist as I did it but it was very relaxing and it meant I was not on my phone!

    A self-care session

This is so important! Take some time out of your day or hey, dedicate a whole day to pampering yourself, meditating, painting your nails, just have some ‘you’ time.

    Bake something!

I love baking during the autumn; my favourite thing to bake is apple pie. I think this year I might try baking some hazelnut cookies or maybe even a raspberry pie.

    Start Embroidery

This is something I am going to be doing! I bought this exact embroidery kit from Amazon and I have already embroidered onto a tote bag and a pencil case. This is a super nice and relaxing thing to do and it also enables you to pick up a new skill.

    Journal!

Journalling is such a great way to express yourself and for me its a form of therapy. If you love writing or want to get into journalling definitely try it.

    Get Crafty

Let your creativity flow! There’s so many arts and crafts options out there; you can make some cards, an autumn wreath, a brand new doormat, it’s all up to you. I think I am going to try my hand at making some cards for the upcoming festive season.

    Start Reading!

I am a strong believer that if you do not like reading, you just haven’t found the right books and genres to read. Reading is a great form of escapism as whilst you’re physically sitting on your bed you could be mentally living crazy adventures such as, fighting dragons, solving a murder or even going on a date with someone unexpected.

Start of small and find a genre that interests you the most. A great starting place is Goodreads, where books are rated and reviewed by people in the thousands!

    Board game Night

When was the last time you played a good boardgame? I can’t remember mine either, but I have so many great childhood memories of me playing them and it’d be lovely to create more memories. How cool does Shot in the Dark look? It’s a great quiz game but an unorthodox version!

    Complete a Paint By Numbers

These kits are everywhere and they look awesome! They come with a big painting, paints and brushes where each number is assigned to a paint. This looks very therapeutic and can be enjoyed with a glass of wine on a chilly night. Look how gorgeous this Paris one is.

That was things to do this fall both indoors and outdoors!

Sports Barbie: she is a barbie girl in a university world. This costume is literally the best; comfy, cosy and you can literally go to the gym straight before the party.

    Hot Cavegirl

    Recreate This Look:

For an outfit that is so simple, this is so effective! A lot of us already have a bunch of animal print so don’t be afraid to mix and match. You could probably get away with buying the accessories above and throwing on a light neutral dress and you’ll still give off the Flinstone vibes.

    Rockstar!

    kiss rockstar halloween costume

    Recreate This Look:

So I know some people get annoyed when you wear shirts of bands you do not even know about, but I think for Halloween they’ll let their opinions slide.

Recreating this look is easy as not knowing the words to every song by Kiss. With some fish nets and a rock-band tee you can wear the components of this halloween costume repeatedly.

    Hot Pirate

    Recreate This Look:

    Captain Jack Sparrow, who?

This is one of my favourite halloween costumes for university students because it is essentially a clubbing outfit with some fake swords. The outfit itself is so versatile as you can get a longer sleeve white shirt and knee high boots for colder weather, and shorts and a short sleeve for warmer weather.

I have also added some jewellery options because I genuinely think a pirate will not be walking around without flaunting their gold.

    Hot Boxer

    Recreate This Look:

You can go straight from the gym, to the party, and then straight to bed with this Halloween costume! I truly believe whoever wears this is a genius because they have such a good excuse to wear comfy gym wear to a party!

    Daphne And Velma

scooby doo halloween outfit velma and daphne fancy dress

    Recreate this Look:

Who didn’t watch Scooby Doo as a child and NOT want to be Velma or Daphne? Not us. Over the years so many Scooby Doo Halloween costumes have come out and now all of us can! Velma and Daphne are now a truly chic and stylish duo, that we can all easily copy.

Out of all of the Halloween costumes for university students, there’s something about Daphne especially that I would love to wear on a daily basis, not just Halloween.

    Swat Team

    Recreate this Looks

Gotta love a classic, easy, all black halloween costume! This all-black SWAT outfit is so nice and easy to style- a definite must in my book of Halloween costumes for University students.

That was 15+ HOT Halloween costumes for university students that are perfect for any party. It was so fun going through these Halloween costumes as the vibes of each outfit is different yet all are super fun.

If I had to pick one Halloween costume, I would pick Daphne for a less dress-up vibe and then the Poison Ivy one because it is STUNNING! Yep, I am aware that was two- they’re too gorgeous just to pick one!

    What’s your favourite?

Okay, this is so cool; I’ve never seen anything like it! You can put these spiders anywhere; on the wall, the floor, the ceiling. I think it’s such a perfect staple piece!

3 | SCARY TOILET SEAT DECALS

I’m not even joking, one of my uni friends had this in her house for a halloween party one year and they just left it on the seat, I’d get a fright every single time I went to the bathroom.

They’re also really easy to peel off; no damage here!

4 | Twinkly Spooky Season Themed Lights

These battery powered twinkling lights can be put anywhere and I am loving them! Aren’t they all so cute? Once again, they are a perfect addition to any room and add a very spooky season ambience 😉

    5 | LED Jack O’ Lantern

I have a confession, I have never gone pumpkin picking and I have never carved a pumpkin! Hopefully that will change this year. For all of us who have pets or small children, or those of us who are not allowed candles in your accommodation, these led jack o’lanterns are amazing.

If you are in the UK I wouldn’t bother trying to find a nice cheap led jack o’ lanter; i couldn’t! However, I did find this and it’s super pretty but it’s on the pricier side.

6 | Cheap Halloween Pumpkin and Cobweb LED Tea Lights

I am in love with these! You can put these on your party table, on your window sill, around your room, in your garden. I just love the look of them and the fact they are flameless is an added bonus!

7 | This Cheap Halloween Decorations: Balloon and Banner Kit

If you prefer more simpler decorations, these cheap halloween decoration kits are great! Comprising of 39 balloons, banners and tassel decorations they are easy to put up and place.

That’s the best cheap halloween decorations that we’re obsessing over! Spooky season truly has never looked better or affordable 😉

Organising My Desk Drawers | How to Organize Your Desk Drawers Effectively for Productivity

This post is all about how to organize your desk drawers effectively to maximise productivity.

If you didn’t already know, I am such a huge fan of organisation, both inside and outside of my bullet journal. I love having everything easily accessible yet, over quarantine my desk drawers seemed to have collected a bunch of junk. It was time for me to organise them again but this time, better.

For organisation tools, I am only using storage bins that are very cheap and accessible (mine were actually from poundland) to organise my three drawer desk. These are very similar to what I used:

    Small White Plastic Storage Baskets

Pack of 12- a perfect amount to aid with organisation

    Amazon

How To Organize Your Desk Drawers To Increase Productivity

    1. Take some before photos!

I love taking before photos. Not only are they a great comparison tool, they are fantastic motivators for you to get the job done! Here are my three drawers.

    2. Take everything out of your desk drawers

You will not believe the amount of rubbish you have accumulated since the last time you organised your desk drawers. I had candles, wax melts, an old skirt and a bunch of loose paper that had no business being in the drawers.

Taking everything out of your drawers allows you to physically see all that you have and is a great way to pick out all of the rubbish.

    3. Organise everything into drawer piles

I had three drawers so I organised everything into three piles, one for each drawer. This will give you a visual representation of what’s going to fit and where. It also helps you categorise your draws effectively and get rid of things you do not need.

Want some more desk space advice?

    4. Clean the insides of your drawers

Grab some anti-bacterial spray and wipe down your drawers; good hygiene is always key.

    5. Organize your Desk Drawers – Put it all into its place!

Here’s how I organised each of my three desk drawers:

I decided to put my most used stuff in the top drawer comprising of: my most used journals, postit notes and stickers. My most used small bits were organised into two bins: one for post-its and stickers and the other for washi and glue. I decided to stand the books up to maximise space and it also gives me easier access to them. It is now so much easier for me to open the drawer and just pick out what I need.

The second drawer used to be my makeup drawer and was a complete mess. I decided to put my less used notebooks in there as well as journalling paper pads (all laying down as I do not use them as much,) along with my dual brush pens and some card making things I received a while back.

The last drawer is dedicated to my makeup. I have so much makeup but the makeup I use everyday, a long with a few eyeshadow palettes are placed in this drawer. As I use them mostly everyday, I wanted it to be an easy access situation because I get ready very early in the mornings for work at my desk. I have pencils in the black pouch at the back and then my makeup towards the front.

    6. RELAX

Well done, you’ve done it; you now have easily accessible things in organised drawers. How to celebrate? Start using your things and get on with some work 😉

That is how to organize your desk drawers to increase productivity!

  • 10 Things You Need To Know Before Starting A Blog

Looking to start a blog? Here are 10 things you need to know before starting a blog.

person using macbook pro on white table - things you need to know before starting a blog, grow your blog, why people read your blog, why i don't read your blog, blogging tips
    Pexels

I started blogging all the way back in 2012, at the age of 15! If you told 15 year old me that 23 year old me would still be typing to you, I would not have believed you. Granted, my blog has undergone a plethora of name changes and content; you name it, I have blogged about it. From fashion and beauty to books and blogging, I have not stopped blogging about my current loves. With eight years of experience I believe I am quite knowledgeable about the blogging world. Therefore, if you are looking to start a blog, I thought I’d share with you a few things you need to know before starting a blog.

1 | You’re not going to be receiving mega views from day one

Building up a readership takes time and effort. You are not going to see hundreds of people flock to your site with just one blogpost as growth takes time. Truthfully, I’m still not at my desired growth point and I know it’s going to take a while to get there.

2 | Posting consistently is key

To increase your readership and have an audience that comes back to your site, it is important that you post consistently. I try to post atleast twice a week so my site is constantly being updated and therefore my audience know that my blog is current.

3 | SEO is very important – learn it!

When I first started blogging, SEO was a very small thing that I paid no attention to. It’s quite difficult to get your head around at first so if you have WordPress I highly recommend the Yoast SEO plug in as it tells you how to improve the SEO on your site. SEO helps you rank higher in search engines and since using SEO I have seen an increase in search engine traffic.

    4 | GO SELF HOSTED

I cannot stress this one enough. If you are starting a blog in hopes of turning it into a business, going self hosted will help accelerate that process. Why? Well, you will get a domain of your choosing which increases your professionalism. Also with wordpress once you become self hosted you can change your blog design and start implementing plug ins which can start gaining you revenue.

For self hosting providers these two companies are great:

I absolutely loved Siteground – click here to check out their awesome packages! I would still be with them but they got a bit expensive for me.

Now I am with Bluehost which is cheaper but equally as good – click here to check out their packages!

5 | PINTEREST IS THE KEY TO GROWTH

Another capitalised heading, I know. This one is a very important thing you need to know; Pinterest accounts for around 80-90% of my blog views and without pinterest my blog views would be very minimal.

If you would like to know how i increased my pinterest page views by 200k in one week, click here!

    iphone beside pencil on book
    Pexels.com

6 | Do not saturate your blog with ads

There’s nothing worse than clicking onto someone’s blog and not being able to read or see any content because there are ads here, there and everywhere.

7 | The Cleaner the Layout, the Better (Fonts, Sidebar, Images)

Similar to the ad point, you do not want a cluttered blog. I remember when I started blogging, my sidebar was cluttered with badges and widgets; it was an eyesore. The cleaner your blog is the more people are enticed to stay for a while. Think of your blog like a shop or house, you don’t want to walk in and stay somewhere messy; you want some order.

8 | Make sure your images are of the highest quality

As a reader, ofcourse you read the post once you are on it however, the images are the first thing that entice a reader to read the post. Make sure your images are bright, clean and relevant to the blogpost.

9 | Not everyone will ‘get’ your blog and what HARD WORK comes with it.

Trust me my family still don’t get it. It could take me hours upon hours to complete one blog post but to them ‘surely it doesn’t take that long?’ Well it does. My ‘University Essentials‘ post took me DAYS yet it’s not the same as a job to them.

LOL this sounded so bitter but I’m basically just trying to say people will not understand how much goes into a post and they will not believe it when you tell them. Therefore as a new blogger, you’re probably underestimating how much work is going to have to go into your blog.

    10 | DON’T compare yourself to others

Just like everything in life, you will see results in your own time. It’s hard to not compare yourself to others but just keep in mind that you will get there. It’s something I have to remind myself of every day; trust in the process and you’ll succeed.

That was 10 things you need to know before starting a blog!

The Ultimate University Stationery List | 15 Essentials You NEED To Use

This post is giving you the top tier university stationery list of essentials items that you will need to help you succeed, stay organised, and ace your degree!

    university stationery list uk

Now you’re a serious student if you are reading this post. You want to do well, you want to stay super organised and you just want to be that girl, that boy, that student! Using this stationery list for university students you can do just that!

After having completed a full three year degree, I know EXACTLY what university students need!

This post is all about the ultimate university stationery list!

This post is just focusing on stationery, so if you would like a full list of every single thing you need for College/ University click here to check out what to take to university

What Gives Me The Right to Write this Stationery List?

As a seasoned stationery lover and self proclaimed organization junkie, I went to University for three years for a BSc and I went through a lot of stationery. It was bad for my bank balance but fantastic for you because I really found out what stationery was best and what really works; not just for me but for many other people.

    Best Stationery for University!

Now before we jump into this post and I let you in on the ultimate university stationery shopping list, I wanted to do a little foreword.

Having all of this stationery does not mean you are going to succeed. AKA do not think just because you have a binder and some highlighters, you are automatically going to get a first! Don’t get me wrong these items will help massively, some may say they’re crucial, for success. However you need to be in the right headspace and UTILISE these items effectively and put the work in. Uni is a place of fun, temptation, and freedom. You will need to work out a balance of work/ play that will work for you. It really is a trial and error process and you will fail at it sometimes (we’ve all been there). Just stay safe, have fun, and please please, get yo work done!

    University Stationery List UK!

You do NOT need to get absolutely everything on this list; this is a guide on what has worked for me and fellow students in the past and present. You most definitely do not need 3 packs of note-taking pens- the options are just there for you to make an informed decisions of what pens etc. will suit you best!

    1. A Planner

Busy B Mid Year Perfect Planner Diary 2023/24
    • Pine
    • Faux Leather

    • Planner with Stickers, Pen Holder and List Pad

Busy B Mid Year A6 To Do Diary 2023/24
    • August 2023 – August 2024
    • Multicolour Spot
    • Week to View A6 Diary
    • Notes, Pen Holder and Tear-Out Lists
    Amazon UK

First and foremost, you NEED a planner. I cannot stress how much it pays off to be organised whilst getting your degree. If you are not one for bullet journaling (click here to learn how to make one!) then definitely purchase an academic planner. The benefits of a planner is INSANE! It helps you to keep on top of school, your social life, your job, all whilst getting things done.

Ps. if you want to know how to stay super productive at university without risking your social life, click here!

These planners from Busy B are SO good, I used one for the majority of last year before I switched to planning. You can get so many versions and sizes! I included an A5 and A6 one below!

    2. These Assorted Notepads

I recommend having different notebooks for different courses, if you are a hand note taker. This helps keep your notes nice, organised, and separated to make it easier for you to study and distinguish between modules. I would personally recommend the bottom set of notebooks more as they are higher value for money and come in a pack of 10 so these will do you for the whole year!

However if you are looking for a higher quality notebook, then these oxford ones are great.

Oo you can also combine the notebook sets and use the school style books for rough notes and questions etc and then the oxford ones for clean notes.

I experimented a lot during uni and found the best way to use notebooks for me was to take rough lecture notes in the binder listed below and then use these notebooks to write up neater notes for separate subject!

    3. Binders and Folders

    3-Ring-Binder with Pockets
    • 0.5”
    • 4 Pastel Binders
    • 11″ x 8.5″ US Letter Size, A4
    Amazon US Amazon UK
12 Pack Plastic Poly Filing Envelopes
    • 11 Holes Expandable Binder Folders
    • Clear Envelopes Binder Pocket with Label Pocket
    • Snap Button
    • 4 Assorted Colours
    Amazon US Amazon UK

These are brilliant to arrange all of your notes and loose papers in. You will get so many handouts so a binder or a classic folder will be your organisation saviour. I used to take one to lectures with me and had rough paper in the binder and I basically had all of the notes from the past few days in that binder.

For one of my uni years, instead of having separate notebooks for my lectures I had binders for each module and then once I made neat notes and we didn’t have to revisit the lectures again I transferred them from my catch-all binder to their specific binder.

I did really like this method, it was nice using these folders within the binder as I had a place to put all handouts!

    4. A4 Dividers

I always used to get mine from my university shop for about 80p or even the pound shop! These are great for your binders to separate modules, topics, etc.

    5. A5 Binders

Some people prefer to write out their notes in A5 form and these binders are perfect to take your notes in. They’re easy to slot into any bag; however just be mindful that most of your lecturers will give you a4 printouts.

    6. A5 Binder Fillers

A5 Refill Paper Lined, 6 Ring Planner Binder Inserts
    • A5 Dividers
    • +320 Pcs Bright Neon Flags
    • 2 Packs A5 Planner Inserts Refill Pad
    Amazon US Amazon UK

These packs are great! They come with some sticky notes, paper, a folder and some dividers for your current notes. They easily slot into your binder and if you would rather have binders full of notes they are perfect organisation tools.

    7. Flash Cards

For degrees where you need to remember key pieces of information or have short and snappy question and answer questions (like science, history etc), flashcards are a MUST! I used flashcards for my revision (I honestly had about 70 packs of them) and they truly helped me get a first. They are such a great tool to test yourself and study from, as you can repeat as many questions as you like, a really tailor them to yourself and your needs. I used to hole punch them and clip them with these ring bind circles to create little packs.

    8. Pencil Pouch and Basic Pencil Sets

    EastHill Big Capacity Pencil Case
    • Multiple Colours
    • Fits so much
    • Easy to organise
    Amazon US Amazon UK

These are majorly self explanatory but you will be surprised at how many people forget coming to uni without your basic pencil and rubber, not even to mention a pencil case. These little sets are great especially if you are doing a note taking heavy or STEM subject (so basically every subject.)

    9. Calculator

This one is a serious university stationery list essential! Please, if you are doing a science/ math based course bring a calculator and not just any calculator… the correct one. Someone once had their calculator taken off of them during an exam because it was not the correct one.

    10. Black Note Taking Pens

A pen is the most basic yet the most important thing on this university stationery list! These Papermate pens were my favourite pens to write with; not too thick, glides on the page and doesn’t smudge! For a cheaper alternative these ballpoint pens should be the standard choice and right at the top of your university stationery list.

    11. Coloured Note Taking Pens

My favourite sets of pens were these ones from Staedtler and Papermate; they are dream to write with/ You will love these! The Papermate pens glide nicer on a page, but the Staedtler Triplus ones are better when it comes to annotation as the nib is thinner.

I used them for note taking, annotations, and colour coding.

    12. Coloured Highlighters

    stationery list for university essentials
    Zebra MildLiner Complete Set

Dual Ended – highlighter on one side, marker on the other

    Awesome colour range!

    Amazon US Amazon UK

I really love these highlighters because they are pastel and quite mild compared to the neon colours we are so used to seeing. They last forever (mine still have not run our yet and it has been 3 years) so they are very worth it.

Another slightly pricier option is the zebra mildliners. They work as both a highlighter on one end and a marker on the other- great for taking notes.

(RELATED POST: If you want to see both of these pens in action, click for the best pens that DO NOT bleed through the page.)

    13. Laptop

I think it would be quite difficult for you to go through university without a laptop of some kind. My macbook really saved my academic life. I took it with me to every lecture as it was so light weight. For my biochem module I would type up all of my notes, so they were on there as were all of my assessments and my dissertation. They are great to take to lectures with you and annotate the powerpoint as your professor goes through it.

However the Macbook is bloody expensive so save your money and go for the HP one below. It has been used by so many students and lasts years and years! It is also a fraction of the price, save some money (click here for my student money saving guide) and get a HP.

    14. iPad Pro (but the Air is basically the same so I’m recommending that)

I’m saying an iPad Pro because I would have really loved to have had one whilst at University. With an iPad you can eliminate half of the things on this list. You can take your notes on your iPad, edit your notes, annotate books and use it as a drawing pad. Now this isn’t the most crucial item on this university student stationery list but it’s nice to have.

If you are going to get an iPad and thing the pro below is too spenny, I recently bought the Air 4 and oh my goodness, it works just as wellm and is so much cheaper.

    Apple iPad Air (5th Generation)
    • Multiple Colours
    • Honestly the best thing I have ever bought
    Amazon US Amazon UK

    15. The Best Back-Packs to Put These in:

Here we have two bags for you to put all of your items from this university stationery list. Both of these bags are super useful with myself carrying the second bag for two years. Not only do these both fit your university stationery essentials but also your lunch, water bottle, umbrella, and much more.

RELATED POSTS: f you would like to see more bags, definitely check out this post on 12 university bags for students recommended by students.

I used to have the bottom bag and it was my absolute favourite! It had so much space and could hold so many things! It doubled up as a weekend bag for when i went home some weekends (we love versatility!)

  • 16 Best Things to do When You’re Bored

This post is all about the top things to do when you’re bored!

top things to do when you're bored

Bored in the house, yeah you’re in the house bored? Yes, that was definitely a reference to the famous tiktok that we can all relate to at some point in our lives. This post is in hopes, going to abolish that boredom. I am going to be sharing with you some deliciously time consuming things that will help your days in the house fly by. I am an advocate for all of these things; my days are passing very quickly because of these activities. Sit tight, grab a snack (if you haven’t eaten them already) and let me tell you about the top things to do when you’re bored in the house.

Just going to throw a little disclaimer in here, some of these activities do involve buying some things but most are totally free and are just as good at consuming your time.

This post is all about the top things to do when you are bored!

Things To Do When You Are Bored!

No matter your budget, time or space, we have an activity here for everyone!

    1. (RE)READ YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK SERIES

Have a massive pile of books you need to get to? Same and I am avoiding it like a bad smell. Something that is helping me is rereading some of my favourite series which is getting me hyped to read more. Reading is such an amazing form of escapism as it provides windows to thousands of different worlds. You sit down with a good book and before you know it hours have gone by.

Audible is currently making hundreds of books free to listen to so definitely check Audible out, as is Scribd.

Some of my favourite series include: Harry Potter (I’m on the 5th book!), The Hunger Games, Throne of Glass and ACOTAR. If you want some great book recommendations, click here.

    2. ORGANISE YOUR HOUSE

I cannot tell you how therapeutic this activity is. I will lock myself in my room and spend the whole day organising everything down to my sock drawer. As we are spending so much time in our houses, it’s really important that they are clean and organised to reflect positivity especially in our mindsets. My mum has even let me organise our kitchen cupboards and our utility room. The satisfaction of opening up your drawers and seeing everything in it’s place is heavenly. It will also save you unnecessary trips to the supermarket.

    3. Things to do when you’re bored- GAMER??

    Nintendo Switch Lite – Turquoise

    • Major boredom killer

Hello, I am Georgia and i bought a Nintendo Switch and I am addicted to it. I have played Pokemon shield bear to completion and just downloaded Animal Crossing and I can honestly say I dreamt about fishing last night. I have spent so much time playing on my amazing Yellow Nintendo Switch Lite and I do not regret it. Pokemon and Animal Crossing are amazing games which you can visit and team up with your friends on. I highly recommend, if you can get your hands on one and it’s in your means to do so, definitely give the Switch a try. I hadn’t played any sort of video game for about ten years and now here I am. This is a major top things to do when you’re bored!

    4. DANCE-A-LONGS and HOME WORKOUTS

Dancing and home workouts are a great way to get rid of all of our pent up energy and will really put a smile on your face. There are hundreds of people live streaming dance-a-longs and home workouts that you can join in, in real time. We have Joe Wicks, the Body Coach providing both PE lessons for kids and adults. We have Oti Mabuse providing a dance bootcamp everyday. One of my favourite people at the moment is Meggan Grubb, she is a fitness vlogger who does workouts everyday at 1pm UK time. Try to do these with friends, it really promotes togetherness and makes it much more fun. You don’t need much equipment for the home workouts but I definitely recommend getting an exercise mat (your knees will thank you!)

    5. BAKING

We’ve all made a banana loaf in these past two weeks but how about now we go a step further and make some cookies or even an elaborate cake. This is a fun activity to do with everyone in your house and everyone can decorate a portion of the cake/ cupcake and you can make a competition out of it. This scrumptious cook book by baking queen Mary Berry has over 100 cake recipes in it and let me tell you, the brownies are heaven!

I also made a cute little infographic that you can pin/ save to your phone!

    6. TIKTOK

I had to put this one in there. I never went on TikTok before lockdown and now if I go on it, I can scroll for hours. TikTok for me isn’t addictive, its when I open the app and start scrolling, it’s so hilarious and heartwarming you can’t stop scrolling. Eventually it gets to the point of you making your own tiktoks, learning the dances and having a great time doing so. This is a great way to get yourself and your kids/ family members moving.

    7. GO THROUGH YOUR PHOTOS

Take.a trip down memory lane/ Google Photos/ iCloud and delete those photos that you do not need. I need to do this but the thought of starting is so daunting because my google photos start from 2012. 8 years of photos to go through seems like an impossible task but I want to have organised photos and not 7479 selfies in a row.

    8. START A BLOG/ INSTAGRAM/ YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Always been wanting to start one of these? Now is your chance to do it. The scariest thing is getting started but once you have started it and you start interacting with people and your expressing yourself in this digital way, it becomes something that you cant see yourself without. Just do it; you will not regret it. I am focusing on building up my instagram, so if you want to give us a follow click here. #shamelessplug

    9. DO SOME GARDENING/ GROW SOME PLANTS

things to do when you're bored

Don’t have a garden? Not to worry, my mum won’t let me anywhere near ours so I am growing and taking care of my succulents in my room. I bought one of these kits for a friend at work for Secret Santa and then bought one for myself. This grow your own succulent kit is so amazing, it comes with everything you need to grow your own little garden. There are some other really cool kits, too, like this grow your own chilly garden kit and this psychedelic salad kit.

    10. HAVE A MARVEL/ DISNEY MOVIE MARATHON

With Disney+ fresh on the scene (and other websites) now is your chance to watch all of the Marvel films in chronological order. I cannot want to start my Marvel Marathon. If you are not a Marvel fan, why not do the same with Harry Potter, Fast and Furious, Star Wars and Disney films.

    11. IMPROVE YOUR FLEXIBILITY

Being one of the most inflexible people that have ever lived, I have decided to start stretching to help me become more flexible and improve my overall muscle strength. I have been just searching up youtube videos which are 30 mins max before bed to help me become Mrs Incredible. This is a perfect way to distract yourself and help you wind down before bed.

    12. Top things to do when you’re bored: START A JOURNAL!

You have so much free time now, why not focus that into creating a journal? This could be and art journal, a poetry journal, an everything journal or a bullet journal. I have so many posts on bullet journalling and if you really want to start one, definitely check this post out, it tells you all you need to know.

    13. LEARN A NEW SKILL

This seems to be a popular choice when it comes to things to do when you’re bored. I know a few people learning to code, some learning how to draw and some people dedicating their time to learning how to knit. We have such a fantastic opportunity (maybe not the correct way to describe this situation) to invest our time into learning something that will benefit us both mentally and physically.

    14. BINGE TV SHOWS

We all have a list of tv shows we have been meaning to get to. With some shows comprising of 6+ seasons (each with 20 episodes each), they have obviously been put off. Here’s your time to watch them. I think I am going to start the Walking Dead or maybe Breaking Bad.

    15. GET YOUR DIY ON

I cannot tell you how great it is to do something fresh and productive to your living space. This is possibly one of the best things to do when you’re bored because you can see your progress. So many people paint their rooms in a cool way (one girl did a massive UV jungle mural on one wall) and some people are finally assembling their furniture. No matter how big or small, try your hand at a DIY project. This could be making some plant boxes, painting your walls or even completely transforming a room.

Or you can do DIYs in another way like polymer clay and make some cute jewelry!

    16. MOST IMPORTANTLY… GET TALKING WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Whether this be via the phone, zoom, or in person, try and make sure you talk to a few people a day. It’s no secret that this situation is hindering our mental health and spiking some people’s anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses. It is vital that we communication high to ensure that we are as healthy as we can be in this situation. Try talking to people on the phone and avoid the topic of the virus, Netflix party with people or even have your friends on a fun Zoom pub quiz (more anxiety reducing things here.) Just please make sure you talk to people.

Right, well, that’s that. I had fun making this list and coming up with fun things to do. Please let me know if you try any of these things. Also, apologies for the not so gorgeous photos, these are just what I have been doing.

As always, stay safe and get talking.

  • The Ultimate University Packing Checklist

Hello undergraduates, welcome to the first post in my student series, where I have compiled the ultimate university packing checklist. Moving away from home to attend university is a very stressful time period so I thought I would relieve some of your stress by compiling a university packing checklist that you can download and print off, comprising of essential items.

Also I just wanted to let you know that this post has had a complete update for 2020, going into more detail and depth, listing every singe thing you are going to need for university here. I highly recommend reading my University Packing Checklist for 2020 here! (it’s so much better!)

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE ON WHAT TO TAKE TO COLLEGE/ UNIVERSITY

Hello undergraduates, welcome to the first post in my student series, where I have compiled the ultimate university packing checklist. Moving away from home to attend university is a very stressful time period so I thought I would relieve some of your stress by compiling a university packing checklist that you can download and print off, comprising of essential items.

    Congratulations are in order.

I would like to start off by saying congratulations to all of you who have received your A-level results. No matter what you got, you have done amazingly well. Trust me, my A levels nearly killed me and i didn’t get into my first choice university but three years later, so close to graduating, I can’t imagine myself having gone to another university. A-levels are hard so celebrate what you have achieved because you’ll be moving out soon!
A checklist like this would have been very helpful when I first moved to university however, all I could find were posts from parents sending their children off to university for the first time. thinking we’re going to need 6 different types of spoons. So if you are a university student or a parent/ guardian of one, I have the ultimate college/ university packing checklist, perfect for your packing needs.

Starting university can be a little daunting due to there being so much to do in so little time, organisation here really is key.  As a fresher you will probably either underpack or over pack so it is essential you use a college/ university packing checklist. Lucky for you, I have done this three times so you are in the right place with a checklist that will see you through the year and perhaps beyond. I will however keep an eye on your cutlery as I started off with four of everything and am now left with a spoon, a fork and half of a mug.
‘Well, I’m not going to carry it on my head now, am I?’
Before you pack, you’re going to need things to put your stuff in. When I moved to university I bought a large suitcase, a weekend suitcase (this is essential for a much needed weekend away) and these boxes, which made life 100% easier instead of using the staple bin bags and ikea specials. I really recommend checking out Amazon for cheap and durable storage solutions.

    The list of all lists:

If you want to download this college/ university packing checklist, click here. In the rare (and perhaps likely) case I have forgotten something, I’ve also included a few extra spaces for you to add things for yourself. Most of my university things such as my mattress protector (please get this, you do not know what has gone on in your bed before you moved in!) and crockery set I really recommend Amazon because they ship everywhere and their returns are easy as sleeping through your 9ams.
As with the bedroom stuff, that really is personal to you and i’ve just put a few bits on there that you may need. Most of the stuff is not essential but it’s good to have them to make your room feel more like home and I will be writing a whole other post on ‘Non-essential University Essentials,’ so keep you eyes peeled for that.  I will also be doing an in-depth post on making your uni room feel more like home so watch this space.
